Science Statement of Intent

At Brinscall St John’s we understand the importance of science throughout the world we live in and the impact this has on everyone’s lives. We appreciate the complex, inter-twining relationships between chemistry, biology and physics in our world and we understand how these can influence pupils to explore their curiosities and create a foundation of scientific knowledge.

Our science curriculum aims to provide children with regular opportunities to work independently and collaboratively, developing their questioning and exploratory skills regarding the world around them. Children will be given the autonomy to follow their own intrigue and curiosities by working scientifically in a wide range practical and written activities. We hope children develop a passion and love for science that they can extend and develop throughout their school lives and into their adult lives. We believe all individuals have questions and queries about our world, which we will encourage and support them to explore and gain an understanding of daily.

It is our intention to develop curious minds and equip children with scientific skills that they can apply to their own lives and develop throughout their futures.
