In October we visited Hoghton Tower as part of our local history unit. We found out all about King James I, Shakespeare and Charles Dickens, who all visited the tower for various reasons.
We visited the Banqueting Hall where King James I knighted a piece of beef, coining the phrase 'Sirloin' and we also visited the dungeons where servants would have lived and worked. We also visited the well house and looked at many of the incredible bedrooms of the tower. Not only that, some of us were lucky enough to knighted as Lords and Ladies.
